Kanisha Moye has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a certificate in Trauma Studies from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She has a professional life coach certification and advanced diploma, is a certified NLP Master Practitioner, and Certified CBT Practitioner. She also has a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Social Work from Capella University. Kanisha specializes in intimate partner violence prevention, intervention, and education. She has worked in social services for over 13 years and serves as a full-time professor in the Master of Social Work program at Missouri Baptist University. She serves on the board of directors for The Women’s Safe House assisting with the development of client-centered programming, and organizational culture. She also serves on the board of directors for the National Association of Social Workers Missouri with a recent appointment to the Ethics Committee. Kanisha is passionate about community progress and empowerment and serves with many organizations. She is a Creating Whole Communities Neighborhood Leadership Fellow and she is also a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated.
Alexis Charles has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from North Dakota State University and a Master of Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has worked in crisis intervention for over a year now and has completed various areas of training related to domestic violence. She is educated on intersectionality and applies a culturally competent model when providing trauma informed care. She is well versed in topics related to safety planning, stalking dynamics, trauma responses and more. She is also an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and works to stay updated on how she can be an ally for the community. Alexis brings a unique lens to the social work field with her combination of criminal justice and psychology education. She values evidence based practices and works to share that knowledge to provide the best service to clients.
Tirsa is a Certified Counselor and is also certified in Suicidology. She is a Licensed Chaplain and has worked extensively in the area of intimate partner violence. She has expertise in crisis intervention, de-escalation, coordinated care, complex case management and has a wealth of knowledge of community resources. Tirsa is well versed in self-care, identification of healthy coping, as well as strengthening spiritual health in conjunction with mental health.
Education is an important part of community justice. We provide specialized courses on advocacy, case management, safety planning, agency culture, agency programming, policy implementation, and much more! Courses are for anyone looking for more specialized training in the area of intimate partner violence. Courses will be made available for purchase soon. Check back for updates!
Our goal is to arm our communities with the knowledge, skills, and tools to help every member become a change agent. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. Our mission is to help equip all community members with the the education to safely engage in intervention and prevention practices that will help fight this public health issue. We will accomplish this through online, and community events. Please check back for calendar updates!
